After a long trip I am back home! Last night in Pendleton was actually fun! We set out to town in the snow...wow let me tell you the roads where so icy! It was kinda scary. The stores we went into the people were extremly nice. They tried to help us in many different ways since we were stranded in their town. I couldn't believe how nice all the people were! It was awesome.
We ended up going to Wal-mart on our way back to the hotel to buy some cards. I think that was our 3rd time there? I now know where that store is! We played uno a few times and some normal card games. I think the small room got all three of us a little out of it, we had to leave the room! Lucky for us Denny's was like 20 feet away from our hotel room doors. We decided lets go sit there for a bit. Our 3rd time to Dennys we already recoginized someone who works there...now that is kinda sad! Well he let us sit down at a big table and they got cake/pie. We sat there for at least an hour. We ended up talking to our waiter who was telling us all the stories he's heard about Utah and how he goes to college in Pendleton. It was a good night.
Driving home was fun we woke up at 7 got ready, and packed. For breakfast we decided to go to Dennys. Our "friend" from the night before was there and we talked to him again! We shared our story to our new waitress about trying to go to Portland, but instead we got stuck and now having to turn back. I really dont know how many times we told this story, but everyone said they felt bad and tried to help. The waitress today us to call them ahead of time and get the weather report before we drive clear up here!
We said our good-byes and hit the road. Semis had to have chains to go through the mountains. I have never seen so many semis at one time in my life on the side of the road putting them on, and the opposite way taking them off. At one point I really think we saw 20-40 semis on the side of the road! It was crazy. We almost hit a semi that had a flat bed on it. True story, we came only feet from hitting the back end! Thankfully we didn't. That's not the only thing we almost hit either!! We saw 25+ chains and a tire on the roads of Oregon. It became a game I guess to find the chains that have fallen off. Oregon roads were by far the worst! As soon as we hit Idaho the roads were nice, I think we only hit a few patches of snow on the road and windy times. Utah was also good for the most part until we got to Logan!
For anyone that's going to travel this Christmas please be safe!
